Swedish parliament to debate on Indian human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir

Islamabad: In a major diplomatic breakthrough on Kashmir issue on Pakistan’s position on Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), two resolutions highlighting human rights abuses, militarization of IIOJK have been presented to Swedish Parliament for discussion by ruling Social Democrat Party.

Pakistan Ambassador to Sweden Dr Zahoor Ahmed has said that these resolutions urge Swedish government, in cooperation with UN, EU and the rest of international community, to give its full support to a resolution of Kashmir conflict, which is of utmost importance to enable a peace process.

Envoy Dr Zahoor Ahmed said both the resolutions highlight human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir and highlight Indian atrocities. The genocide in Indian Occupied Kashmir continues unabated leaving a blotch on India’s face of a ‘so-called champion of human rights’.  Continuation of inhuman military siege, machinations to bring demographic changes and gross violations of HR and international laws are perpetuating humanitarian and security crisis in IIOJ&K that imperils regional security.

Successive Indian governments have unleashed a hell of deprivations, siege, torture, humiliation, mass and gang rapes, forced disappearances and extra-judicial killing of Muslim Kashmiri youth while in custody.

One of the motions was presented by Selkan Kose, a Swedish parliamentarian from Turkey who has regularly raised the Kashmir issue in the Swedish Parliament in the past. The other was announced by another Social Democratic Party member, Johan Buser.

A motion by Selkan Kose referred to decades of “conflict in the Kashmir region” and stated that “since the constitutional amendment, the lives of 8 million people have been disastrous” in August 2019. It highlights the illegal activity of the 5th.

He also talks about the numerous Indian troops in Kashmir, “the most militarized region in the world today.” He also emphasized restrictions on communications, mobile networks, the Internet and public meetings.

The motion also states that “depriving the entire population of the right to freedom of expression, opinion and movement indefinitely is contrary to international human rights treaties.”

“It requires the Government of India to end the blockade of Kashmir and the crackdown on human rights. It also urges the Government of India to end the collective punishment of the people of Kashmir. The motion is serious and serious. We consider it to be and urge all parties to play their part in a peaceful solution and allow the people of Kashmir to determine their future.

Another move by Johann Buzzer is that “the protracted conflict between the two nuclear powers of India and Pakistan makes Kashmir a dangerous conflict not only from a human rights perspective, but also from a security policy perspective.” Mentions the facts. It also mentions restricting human rights groups and the international media from entering Kashmir under Indian control.

It refers to Sweden’s foreign policy support for its fundamental rights to peace, reconciliation, human rights and freedom of expression. It requires both the Government of India and the Government of Pakistan to engage in dialogue to create a process of sustainable peace resolution and reconciliation.

Ambassador Zahoor Ahmed said both resolutions emphasized human rights abuses in IIOJK and emphasized the atrocities of India.

“They see this issue as an international issue for the EU and the United Nations to address. They call on the Swedish government to play a role in emphasizing human rights abuses and conflict resolution,” he said. Web Desk
