Kashmiri women must not be forgotten, Pakistan says on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Islamabad: The world is celebrating International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women today November 25, 2021, thousands of women in Indian Occupied Kashmir are immensely suffering at the hands of Indian occupation troops.

Women in Indian Occupied Kashmir are among the worst sufferers of Indian state terrorism. Sexual violation against women is being used as a weapon of war in Indian Occupied Kashmir just to compel Kashmiri nation to give up their demand for freedom and the right to self-determination.

Indian Occupational forces have molested 11,248 women and widowed 22,936 since 1989. International community should put pressure on India that psychological trauma faced by ‘half widows’ (whose husbands have disappeared) should come to an end and it should provide access to information regarding the disappeared persons. World forums and global HR organizations should help to secure basic rights to IIOJK women guaranteed under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and promised under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
