New Delhi: A man passed away after having been beaten by a crowd of cow vigilantes in New Delhi’s Dwarka, on April 11.
PTI has reported that the victim, Rajaram, was a 40-year-old caretaker at a farmhouse. Indian Express has reported that the man is 25 years old.
Two people were also injured after a group of 10-15 men, claiming to be ‘gau rakshaks’, attacked them on the suspicion that they were slaughtering cows. The two are also employees at the farmhouse, it has been reported.
“Information was received that a group of men were slaughtering cows and selling the meat in the area,” police said. A police team was rushed to the spot, but before it could reach there, the crowd reached the farmhouse and attacked those inside it.
Two FIRs have been registered in the case, he said.
Rajaram and the others were taken to a hospital, but he succumbed to injuries.
“Our teams have collected a few samples from the spot and sent it for examination. Two separate cases have also been registered in the matter and five men were arrested from the spot,” the officer said.
One FIR, police said, has been registered under sections pertaining to cow slaughter. The other allegedly contains claims that cow slaughter would take place at the farmhouse. The Wire
