Modi ridicules Ambedkar his slogan of equality

Every year 14th April is celebrated as Ambedkar Jayanti, Bhim Jayanti or Equality Day in India.14th April 2022 marks as the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, also known as ‘Babasaheb Ambedkar’. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was an Indian politician, economist and social reformer known as the “Father of the Constitution of India” who advocated for the rights of Dalit communities and led the movement against biased caste system.

The day aims to pay tribute to his contributions for the upliftment of the Dalits. Whereas, minorities and non-Hindu communities living in India are persecuted by RSS backed fascist Modi government. In 2021, three hundred incidents of persecution of minorities have been registered in India.

Under BJP’s leadership, India has become one of the most dangerous countries for minorities in the world. India has entered into a very critical phase of communal strife after the Hindu zealots led by RSS inspired BJP leaders openly called for genocide of the Muslims and persecution of other minorities through tacit extreme ploys.

President of Genocide Watch, Dr Gregroy Stanton has warned that something similar to the inhumane Rwandan genocide could happen in India if stern action isn’t being taken by India. Constitution of India recognizes in Article 25 (1) that “all persons are equally entitled to freedom of conscience and the right to freely profess, practice and propagate religion.” India’s Dalit community have faced systemic persecution by so-called upper-caste Hindus for ages.

After Anti-Conversion Bill brought in, entire situation has emboldened right-wing Hindu extremists to unleash a reign of terror on the oppressed minorities living in India. However, Indian union is fake and historically made of coercion, annexation and false promise. Indian minorities seen their future in separate homelands an impeding outcome of a pseudo republic.

Two months before the 131st birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar on April 14, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi derided and devalued his legacy by coining the phrase ‘andolan jivi’.

The phrase ‘andolan jivi’ is particularly insulting to Ambedkar. One of the key components of his legacy is embodied in his iconic slogan, ‘Educate, Agitate, Organise’. Those three electrifying words were his concluding utterances at the All India Depressed Classes Conference held in Nagpur in 1942. Seventy-nine years later, when the Prime Minister of India denounced agitation and sarcastically said in the context of the prolonged farmers’ agitation that the protesters are “andolan jivis”, he denounced Ambedkar himself.
