MP Mohamed Saeed: MDP is a regional destabilizer, led by fascists

Male: Opposition Deputy Leader MP Mohamed Saeed has stated that the current ruling party is led by fascists. Quoting a recent publication by Indian think tank ORF, the Maavashu constituency MP Mohamed Saeed stated that the ruling party was a regional destabilizer.

The article in question raises concern over the opposition leader former President Abdulla Yameen’s release by the Supreme Court of Maldives, ensuring his right to contest for the 2023 Presidential Election. The report states that the current administration has lost its support and that there were no visible losses to former President Abdulla Yameen’s support base. The report also defended the secretive military agreements between India and Maldives, labelling the public concerns surrounding the security issues as a product of the opposition’s political vendetta.

Opposition Deputy Speaker MP Mohamed Saeed criticized the ORF stating that it was acting as a “washing machine” to clean all the agreements between India and Maldives. He further stated that the think tank was misleading on the “unconstitutional” UTF agreement. This is in reference to the military agreement between India and Maldives to establish a naval base at UTF, which would allow for armed Indian military personnel to station themselves at the base for more than a decade.

MP Mohamed Saeed stated that the current ruling party MDP lies and that they are a “regional destabilizer”. He then stated that the ORF does not understand that the current ruling party MDP was led by fascists, urging them to “do some research”. The Maldivesnetworknews.com
