Muslim hawker beaten up, forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in India

Aligarh: A Muslim hawker Amir was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ after being beaten up and looted by Hindutva terrorists in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to details, in a video that surfaced on social media, Amir said that when he was selling clothes in the area, two men came and asked him whether he was a Mulla (a derogatory term used for Muslims). Then, they asked him to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and he said it to their intimidation in Aligarh on Sunday evening.

“They did not listen to anything and started beating me. They took out my mobile and started recording a video of mine. They snatched my money. They were Thakurs. When an elderly lady tried to stop them, they pushed her aside. Then, no one protected me,” said Amir, who had to be hospitalized. He said they also snatched his mobile, clothes and money.

“They were also trying to break my motorcycle and set it afire. I don’t know them. One of them was Raju,” said Amir, who is from the Silla Bisanpur area in Aligarh. Amir’s father Raisuddin has filed a complaint with Harduaganj police station.

Talking to the media about the incident, his father said that Amir was beaten up with sticks. He was also forced to pay homage to the photo of lord Ram after Amir said ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on their intimidation. Aligarh Police claimed that it has arrested two accused Raju and Devesh after registering an FIR against them under IPC Sections 307 and 323. According to reports, the accused also beat up a police constable at the police station after they were brought there. Web Desk
