Next elections in J&K will be fought for identity: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: The ex- chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah has said that future polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be fought not for roads, electricity and water but for identity.

He said “Whenever election will be held, it will be fought for our identity. People in large numbers must participate in it, so that the land, jobs and other rights will be there for the locals”. Omar Abdullah said the promises made by the BJP after the abrogation of Article 370 have proven to be a farce. “Three years have passed.

Forget about new projects, Indian government failed to complete even the existing projects”. He questioned the rationale behind the Indian occupational government’s yet another effort to marginalize the Kashmiris to give a unique ID to every household in IIOJK. “When people already have Aadhaar, PAN and other numbers, what is this unique ID for?

He termed it another attack on people’s identity, saying such family ID system is found nowhere in India. By creating this ID, the government is trying to ensure that J&K residents are known by numbers and not by names, he alleged.

Next polls will be fought for identity in J&K, rejecting the Indian government’s farce claims of normalcy and speedy economic development in IIOJK after abrogation of articles 370, and 35A former chief minister Omar Abdullah criticized Indian government’s violations of HRs in IIOJK after the 5 Aug 2022 and depriving the masses from their true representative leadership.

Since illegally revoking the special status of the IIOJK in 2019 by repealing Article-370 of its Constitution, India has been making failed attempts to sell the false narrative of return of normalcy in the IIOJK. The reality is diverse from Indian false claims as the security situation in the occupied territory is getting worse day by day due to the rigid approach of the Indian government.

Modi led BJP administration claimed that ending the special status of Kashmir will bring development and ending violence in the illegally occupied region. India’s claim of normalcy and development have failed because the situation of IIOJK is worse than before the abrogation of article 370 and 35A.

India’s claim of normalcy in IIOJK is just to ivert the attention of world from grave human rights abuses by Indian forces. India can’t change Kashmir’s disputed status through its military presence. IIOJK has become the highest militarized zone in the world as over 1 million Indian troops remain deployed.

Next polls will be fought for identity in J&K, India has been seeking to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory in flagrant violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions. However, IIOJK leadership and masses have rejected India’s false claim of normalcy and development.
