OIC urged to make diplomatic efforts for settlement of Kashmir dispute

OIC URGED TO DIPLOMATIC AND LEGAL EFFORTS FOR KASHMIR SETTLEMENT

Srinagar: A delegation of Kashmir Committee headed by Masood Puri called on Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha at the General Secretariat in Jeddah. The delegation thanked the Secretary General for his efforts and OIC’s consistent support for the settlement of Kashmir dispute.

The delegation emphasized that the OIC should lead the diplomatic and legal efforts to find a lasting solution of the Indian Administered Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UNSC Resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people.

The delegation pointed out that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine were two similar disputes where occupiers were using similar strategies to oppress the people. The delegation urged that OIC should make concerted efforts for the inalienable right to self-determination of the people of both Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation particularly drew the Secretary General’s attention to the stark similarity between the Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian territories and the Indian government’s illegal actions since 5 August 2019 geared to forcing demographic changes in the IIOJK.

The delegation handed over unanimously adopted resolution to the OIC Secretary General requesting the mandated visits of IPHRC fact finding mission and ASG Humanitarian Affairs and appoint a panel of legal experts as an advisory body as mandated by the Action Plan endorsed by the 48th session of Council of Foreign Ministers.

RSS-BJP regime in India is implementing what its rulers ominously called a “Final Solution” for IIOJK. Indian occupation forces continued to conduct cordon-and-search operations, put down protests violently, indiscriminately use pellet guns, imprison Kashmiri political leaders, abduct and torture children & women and stage fake encounters in IIOJK.

Durable peace and stability in South Asia would remain tense and fragile without a just and lasting solution to the Indian Administered Kashmir dispute in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
