Pakistan deserve positive FATF decision

Qaisar Mansoor

Despite strong “Indian lobby” Pakistan hopes that FATF will not make a “politically motivated” decision at the next meeting on 11 October and remove the country’s name from FATF grey list.

Pakistan’s anxious eye is on fifth meeting which is expected to decide whether or not to remove Pakistan from its grey list.  Pakistani government has made substantial progress in making its counter-terrorist financing systems stronger and more effective. If decisions are based on merit, then the country’s name surely would be removed from the FATF’s grey list.

While on the other hand, India is using important technical forum like Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for achieving narrow political designs against Pakistan.

Even the Indian External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar in July this year admitted that the Narendra Modi government had “ensured” that Pakistan remained on the grey list of the FATF.

Pakistan deserves international support not a place on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list at its next meeting to be held later this month. Significant progress made by Pakistan on FATF action items has left no room for further keeping the country on the grey list. Despite Indian conspiracies and propaganda, Pakistan hopes that FATF will not make a politically motivated decision at the next meeting.

If decisions are based on merit, then Pakistan’s name surely would be removed from the FATF’s grey list. There is no justification to keep Pakistan on grey list after it fulfilled almost all action items of FATF. Pakistan government has made substantial progress in making its counter-terrorism financing systems stronger and more effective.

The FATF has shown favoritism towards India by continuing to place Pakistan on its grey list, the report said, adding that global forums like FATF are losing their credibility by ignoring reports of the seizure of uranium in India in recent months. It report pointed out that Pakistan has been at the forefront in the fight against terrorism and its fight against the menace will get strengthened from a collaborative not punitive approach from international stakeholders.

India will never succeed in its wicked plans to harm Pakistan adding that the global community must take appropriate action against Modi-led fascist Indian government for politicizing the FATF.
