ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says peace in Afghanistan is inevitable for peace and stability in the region.
He was talking to Iran s Special Envoy on Afghanistan Muhammad Ebrahim Taherian Fard, who called on him, in Islamabad.
The Foreign Minister said Pakistan from day one has adopted the stance that there is no military solution to the Afghan issue.
He said unrest in Afghanistan has affected both Pakistan and Iran. He expressed concerns over the growing extremism in Afghanistan.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said peace in Afghanistan will lead to promotion of contacts in the region, enhancement of trade activities, repatriation of Afghan refugees and the regional stability.
He also appreciated the efforts of Iran for establishment of peace in Afghanistan. APP
