RSS extremists now planning to demolish Adina Masjid in West Bengal India

Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president for West Bengal, Rathindra Bose has claimed that the renowned Adina Masjid in Malda district was built on a temple.

Adina Masjid is among the Archaeological Survey of India-listed monuments.

The Hindutva forces have launched a nefarious campaign targeting the famous mosques across India with the claim that they were built after demolition of temples by Muslim emperors and rulers.

Rathindra Bose, in a tweet in Hindu said, “The Adinath temple is sleeping beneath the Adina mosque. Jitu Sardar gave his life to save this temple. That history is unknown to many.”

He claimed that Jitu Sardar was killed while trying to protect the temple from the British and Muslim rulers.

The Adina mosque was built during the Shah regime of the Bengal Sultanate around the late 1300s. It is located in the historic city of Pandua, former capital of the Bengal Sultanate. The Adina Masjid was commissioned in 1373. Experts say the design of the mosque incorporated Bengali, Arab, Persian and Byzantine architecture. Web Desk
