Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency (SIA) attached three Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) properties including a house registered in the name of late Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, officials said.

The officials of the SIA also conducted raids at multiple locations in the state, including Srinagar, Budgam, Kulgam, and Pulwama. The SIA officials said that the property was purchased in the late 1990s by Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) and was registered in the name of Geelani, who used to live there till early 2000.

Later, he shifted to the Hyderpora area of the city. Last year in September, Geelani died at the age of 91 years at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar.

The house of the former president of All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC) was sealed on the orders of Srinagar’s District Magistrate (DM). India is using new tactics to grab the properties of Kashmiri leaders to stifle the voices of Muslims.

Since August 5, 2019 when fascist Modi-regime snatched special status of the state, it issued domicile certificates to millions of non-Kashmiris, changed land laws to enable outsiders purchase properties in Kashmir, redrew political constituencies in favour of Hindus and also gave voting rights to over 2.5 million non-Kashmiris. This all is being practiced to change the demography of Kashmir.
