Speakers express concern over human rights abuses in Modi’s India

Speakers express concern over HR abuses in India at Chandigarh seminar

Chandigarh:  Speakers of a seminar held in Chandigarh, have expressed deep concern over human rights abuses in India and appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of the rights abuses.

A large number of lawyers, intellectuals and students participated in the seminar held, on 10 Dec, on the occasion of “World Human Rights Day”. The Chairman of United Peace Alliance, Mir Shahid Saleem, represented Indian Administered Kashmir in the seminar.

While discussing the serious situation of human rights in the occupied territory, he said all the basic rights of the people are being violated. He said since the Modi-led fascist Indian government revoked Indian Administered Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019, there has been a tremendous increase in human rights violations in the territory.

Mir Shahid Saleem said India is constantly robbing the rights and natural resources of the subjugated Kashmiris and their lives have become miserable due to its brutal tactics. The seminar unanimously passed a resolution demanding the immediate release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth and journalists languishing in different jails of India/ and Indian Administered Kashmir.

International community has realized that BJP policies have resulted into the most brutal, multifaceted and structured/ systematic HRVs (Indian Administered Kashmir and mainland India) of the present era. The ideology of Hindutva has transformed India into a genocidal state.

Currently, India maintains almost 1 million troops in Indian Administered Kashmir, making it the most militarized zone in the world, which have been involved in crimes against humanity. The UN must not become a tool in the hands of great powers; instead, it must go back to its primary responsibility as mentioned in the UN charter.

India is the largest violator of Human Rights. From Indian Administered Kashmir to mainland India, minorities rights violated under the patronage of Indian state. The world community must break its silence on the oppression of Christians, Sikhs, Dalits and Muslims in India.

India disrespects International law and international norms and become a threat to regional peace.  Rising Hindutva terror is becoming a potent threat to the regional peace and security of South Asia. The US and western powers must hold India accountable for its rapidly deteriorating human rights record.
