India: Sri Ram Sena chief demands ban on all madrassas

New Delhi: Chief of Hindu right-wing group Sri Ram Sena Pramod Muthalik has demanded a ban on madrassas in India. He said that the national anthem is not sung and no rule or regulation is followed in madrasas despite grants being provided by the government.

“Hindu taxpayers’ money is being wasted on madrasa education in the country,” he added.

He warned that his organisation will launch an “active” campaign against madrassas if the premises are not banned. “If the state and the central government do not heed our demand for the ban, then Sri Ram Sene will start an active campaign against the madrassas,” he said.

Sri Ram Sena is an extremist Hindutva group and has been involved in anti-Muslim activities in Karnataka. Web Desk
