London: Rising voices against India’s war crimes in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIoJK) is welcome and day is not far when India will be held accountable before the international community, Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK President Fahim Kayani said.
The statement by Kayani came after 29 cross-party British lawmakers issued a demarche to Indian envoy in London asking her to uphold human rights of Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Debbie Abrahams, chairperson All Party Parliamentary Group for Kashmir – shot a letter to Indian envoy Gaitri Issar Kumar pointing to fake encounter in Hyderpora and arrest of globally renowned Kashmiri Human Rights activist Khurram Parvez.
The British lawmakers supported call by Human Rights Watch that India has not been holding transparent investigations in cases of human rights abuse in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The British lawmakers called for a transparent, credible and independent investigation in to the human rights violation cases in IIoJK, pointing to Hyderpora fake encounter in which four Kashmiri civilians were murdered by Indian occupying forces.
“The demarche issued to Indian envoy by the British lawmakers exemplifies that voice of Kashmiris is being heard,” Kayani said, thanking Ms Abrahams for taking up the issue with Indian government.
Khurram Parvez was arrested by India on the pretext, said Abraham, of his human rights work where he criticized Indian forces of violation human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmif.
The British lawmakers also referred to fake encounter in Amshipora where three civilians were killed and dubbed as militants by Indian forces.
They said 108 magisterial probes were ordered by India since 2008 in IIoJK but to no logical conclusion nor was anyone convicted which demands an independent investigation.
“The realization by international community of fake encounters followed by fake investigations by India is a win of Kashmiris,” the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK president said.
“The façade of democracy that India wears is being unmasked and its true face where it employs fascism and religious hatred is being exposed to the world,” Kayani said.
Kayani urged British government led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to take a cue from APPG and question India’s record in IIoJK.
“Play the role of true human rights defender as has been the tradition of democracies,” Kayani urged Johnson. “The silence of British government on India’s war crimes in IIoJK reeks of hypocrisy and double standards.”
“Upholding human rights transcend geo-political interests,” Kayani said.
He called on other parliamentarians around the world especially the US Congressmen and Senators to open their mouth and hold India accountable for her human rights violations in IIoJK. Web Desk
