After KFC & Hundai, Toyota under fire in India for expressing support for people of Indian Occupied Kashmir

New Delhi: After Hundai and KFC, now global automaker Toyota Motor and fast food chain Domino’s Pizza are under fire in India for expressing support for the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Japan’s Suzuki Motor, majority owner of India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki, Honda Motor and Isuzu Motor, South Korea’s Kia Motors and Yum! Brands’ KFC also faced growing criticism on Twitter over the social media posts on Kashmir.

The row erupted, a day after several companies posted messages on social media to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5.

Interestingly, despite growing boycott threats of their products, no foreign companies including Toyota, the world’s biggest carmaker, accepted India’s integral mantra on Kashmir. In response to the criticism at the behest of Modi regime they only said “We regret any hurt this may have caused”, referring to the social media posts in favour of the Kashmiri people.

Hyundai, India’s second-largest car seller, faced the most severe backlash, with hundreds of social media users calling for an apology. Dozens also said they would cancel their car orders. The automaker did not buy India’s narrative on Kashmir and restricted to mere expressing its deep regret to Indians. Web Desk
