Karnataka hijab row: BJP, RSS agenda is to create civil war in India: BK Hariprasad

Karnataka: The leader of the Opposition in Karnataka, BK Hariprasad, alleged that the hidden agenda of the BJP and the RSS is to create a kind of civil war in the state. The Congress leader welcomed the decision for a 3-judge bench to hear the ongoing hijab row in Karnataka.

“It is very unfortunate that a state like Karnataka is heading towards these kinds of disastrous political moments. It is not just elections,” he said.

“In Udupi, it’s a government college. Government college means tax payers money. People from all walks of life, different religions and castes pay tax. Colleges are run by taxpayers’ money. They can’t impose any kind of restrictions,” he added BK Hariprasad.

The protests began in Kundapur and it was purely politically motivated to ignite the communal flare in the minds of the students, alleged the Congress leader.

He said that the College Development Council (CDC) has no business to look into the uniform. It is a government-owned college.

Referring to the incident in Mandya where a Muslim girl was heckled, BK Hariprasad stated, “the school principal or master who went and rescued the dignity of that woman must be given the highest award of the state.”

He said that never in the history of Karnataka has the BJP and RSS made us bow our heads in shame. A girl who was alone was heckled. This is not the culture of Karnataka and it is very unfortunate.

The minister took the issue further by saying that, “tomorrow they will make the saffron flag the national flag. They will declare Hindutva as the nation. Moreover, they are trying to create an atmosphere so that there will be a civil war. The court and civil society need to take this issue very seriously.” India Today
