Denial of fair trial: Yasin Malik threatened to go for indefinite hunger strike

Srinagar: The illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has threatened to go for an indefinite hunger strike if he is not provided with a fair trial and his physical appearance is not made possible in over three-decades-old baseless cases pending against him in Jammu’s TADA Court.

Muhammad Yasin Malik during an online hearing of one of these cases in the TADA Court while inquiring from the judge about fair trial of the cases and his physical presence in the court revealed that he has written a letter to the Government of India in this regard and has demanded to ensure his physical attendance so that he can defend himself by cross-examining the witnesses.

Yasin Malik told the Judge that he has written in the letter that if his demands are not met then he will start an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail from 22nd July against this unjust behaviour of the Indian government and judiciary.

JKLF spokesman deplored that at the behest of the Indian government, a special court in Delhi had unfairly sentenced Yasin Malik to life imprisonment in fabricated and concocted cases registered against him. The sentence was termed as political victimization of Yasin Malik and was widely condemned.

JKLF spokesman said, the Indian government will be entirely responsible if anything untoward incident happened to Yasin Malik. He said that Yasin Malik’s demands were based on truth and justice which India should not feel ashamed to recognize immediately. He appealed to the United Nations and world human rights organizations and activists to intervene on this occasion and play their role in saving the life of Yasin Malik. Web Desk
