Indian SC seeks replies from Modi govt, Election Commission on plea filed against delimitation panel

New Delhi: The Indian Supreme Court has sought a response from the government of India, occupied Jammu and Kashmir administration, and Election Commission of India (ECI) on a plea of two Kashmiris challenging the Indian government’s decision to constitute the Delimitation Commission for redrawing the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in IIOJK.

A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundresh issued notice to the Indian government and Election Commission of India and sought their responses within six weeks and said that the rejoinder affidavit shall be filed in two weeks thereafter.

Two Srinagar residents Haji Abdul Ganai Khan and Dr Mohammad Ayub Mattoo have filed the petition through their counsel challenging the constitution of the delimitation panel. Web Desk
