Jailed Khalistani Sikh tells horrific tale of brutal torture in India’s Rohini jail

New Delhi: A jailed Sikh member of Khalistan movement has said that he has been deprived of right to life by the Indian jail authorities by not providing the basic amenities, and is tortured and harassed in New Delhi’s Rohini jail.

The Delhi High Court has sought a status report from the jail authorities on a plea on behalf of Hardeep Singh’s father, who contended that the jail authorities deprived him of his ‘Right to Life’ by not providing the basic facilities and medical assistance despite being aware of the fact that he has several injuries and body-aches.

The plea also sought medical treatment, telephonic calls, conduct of an X-ray and a chair/stool to sit on. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that his client is unable to communicate from jail with his father and family members in Indian Punjab where other inmates are provided with telephonic calls as per the jail manual.

The counsel said, it is a settled law that the prisoners cannot be made laboratories of torture, warehouses in which human commodities can be sadistically kept. Keeping in view the plight of Sikhs in India, representatives of various Sikh organizations and political parties assembled at one platform to form a joint action plan for the launch of a movement for Sikh political cause and to ensure release of all Sikh political prisoners.

The meeting resolved to appeal to all the Sikh parliamentarians irrespective of their political affiliations, to join the collective cause of the Sikh nation. It is worth mentioning that Sikhs in Indian Punjab and diaspora are heading a powerful movement for an independent homeland for the Sikh community in the name of Khalistan. Web Desk
